New airport self-service security screening
Las Vegas Harry Reid International Airport will be the first in the US to have the option to try the new self-service security screening. Though this is a prototype it may be a pause to look like another self-service check-out. Which will provide step-by-step instructions on how to complete the screening. This may seem that it is an innovative idea to do, but relying on technology this much without oversight of an actual TSA officer is opening the door to the biggest issues that the company will face.
The issue’s they will face will be less workforce needed to be at the airport which will reduce the work force and create a higher unemployment rate within the United States. We are looking at every inspection point that has about seven TSA Officers reduced to two officers with the new imaging system. That is a 71% reduction in officers on the floor ensuring the passengers’ safety. Even though TSA says they will be re-allocating the Officers that they currently have this system will cause a downsize in TSA.
Also, the language barrier the system would have to be able to accommodate all ages and non-technological people that do not have the full understanding of how systems work.
The TSA pre-screening service will use in conjunction with this system since it provides a more streamlined process that will provide a near self-sufficient passenger screening process. Let’s hope that this is the right thing to do and that the passengers will remain safe if this system comes online for all airports.
